Governance

The Bermuda National Trust Act 1969 created a membership preservation organisation which was both independent and rooted in the community. It is governed by the Council, assisted by numerous committees with expertise in all areas of Trust activity. In addition to this strong volunteer team, the Trust is managed by the Executive Director and a professional staff.  The Trust is based at Waterville in Paget.

Under the incorporating legislation, the 13-member council is composed of:

Five persons elected annually by the Trust membership,

Five persons appointed by the founding organisations (Bermuda Audubon Society, Bermuda Historical Society, The Garden Club of Bermuda, Keep Bermuda Beautiful and the St. George’s Historical Society)

Three persons appointed by the Government. Officers of the Council are the President, Deputy President and Treasurer.
